Name that plant:
« on: November 17, 2013, 17:39 »
I *think* This is something I've planted, given the spacing, but I have no idea what it is.  it seems to be doing pretty well after 2 years of neglect though, so I would like to know exactly what it is, and how hard I can cut it back

Thanks :)

It's one of those isn't it.  Sort of green leaf shaped leaves and nothing much else to go on!  Some sort of Cornus?

Well i can't remember if it was meant to be something useful, or decorative (winter colour twigs)?

I might just dig it out anyway, and replace with something I do know what it is  ::)

Don't know the name, but I had something very similar in my old garden that has lots of small white double flowers in summer. Quite brittle stems and grew quite tall.

I think it's a Cronus or dogwood too. Grown mainly for their colourful winter stems. Needs hard pruning in the spring.

Thanks!

I didn't notice it flowering this year (though it was buried in nettles) so I might just prune it back (remove the long growth) and see what it does next year with a bit more care and attention!

I think it might flower on the older wood, so may be worth leaving it a year to see what it does.
