Recommendation(s) for gooseberry bush supplier?
« on: October 31, 2013, 10:53 »
Hi all.
Last year I decided to revamp my second half plot and I bought some gooseberry bushes that (frankly) did not turn out at all like they should have done. I contacted the supplier but they insisted that the bushes (that is an overstatement - more like twigs) were in good condition when they were sent to me so it must have been my planting or the weather and they could not be held responsible for either.
I'm now looking to replace the gooseberries and would welcome any recommendation(s) for suppliers.
Thanks in advance.

BTW when I first looked at the plot there were at least 6 healthy, well established gooseberry bushes. By the time I came to begin work on it a few months later all but 2 had disappeared. How odd.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I asked this question a while ago to stock up my fruit cage. Buckingham nurseries were suggested several times and that is who I opted to order with in the end. Good prices, older plants than some other sites and so far they have been very organised. I am waiting for them to be dormant so they can be sent now

Thanks all.
I've looked at all your recommendations and will compare size/prices/delivery charge (often extortionate and that's a shame).  :)

Mailordertrees sent me beautiful good sized bushes, that all produced a little fruit, even though they didn't get planted until spring. This year they are looking great. They were not the cheapest, but were the nicest of the bushes I bought.   :)

I could end up getting back those that 'disappeared' when I first took the plot over.  :D
