Exciting!
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:14 »
Up to now all I've really done is clear our new, overgrown allotment of weeds and old, bolted plants. We've also been fortunate to have been given some strawberries, raspberry canes, a gooseberry bush, a redcurrant and a blackcurrant, all of which have been planted and are OK.
But almost 2 weeks ago I planted some radish seeds, the first thing to be grown 'from scratch' as it were. I popped up to the plot for a quick visit after work yesterday and they are starting to appear! I know that's what they're supposed to do, but we were quite excited - it means we've actually grown something. We're almost real allotmenteers now!

The photo below makes it look like it's growing through rubble, but it's not that bad, honest; at the moment the leaves are only about 1cm across.

it always feels wonderful to see the first seedlings appear - you wait until you harvest and eat them!
