plant data base
« on: October 05, 2013, 13:04 »
Was just wondering if there is a data base on the internet that I can download.
I also am looking for a plant I have seen in garden centres but did not look at the name, it is a flower with a red or yellow plumage about 4 to 6 inches high.

This one, which is linked to promotional magazines and offers that some garden centres participate in, is a fairly comprehensive one.

If you can offer a bit more info, I might be able to ID the specific plant you are looking for.  My first thought was Celosia, which is a summer bedding plant  :)

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle,  you got that , yes it was Celosia, I am going to have a go at them next year.
Thanks for you expert advise on the plant, I'm of to have a look at the plant database now but better walk the dog first.

I cheat  ;)  I work in a garden centre so am used to identifying plants from customer descriptions - most of which are far less accurate than Caretaker's

It was the reference to red and yellow plume that gave the game away  :)
