When to harvest pumpkins?

I'm on Holiday from 4th - 19th Oct, should I leave them until I get back?

Do you usually get a hard frost before your return? If so I'd cover them with fleece to be on the safeside

I would cut them before you go and put them under cover. We could get a sharp frost any time soon and you would not want to loose them.

so I assume a hard frost would damage the pumpkins and they wouldn't store. I'll pick them today

I picked mine yesterday, my allotment has been broken in to AGAIN, so didnt want to lose them
