Harvested some of my Charlottes last night and they were fine - but once it gets wet I expect the slugs will move in.

I've harvested Charlottes until the following March so they can stand if need be.

That is very useful to know.

Unless they are deep under the soil, covered with straw, or the Winter is very mild, they will be frosted. I have dug overwintered potatoes but they do not taste good and are a bit watery.

Better to lift and store.
Thanks, Sals, but will they store? I think maybe not, although others here think they may!

I reckon we'll dig them as we need them and hang the consequences now; there are far too many to contemplate storing as 'news'!

Charlotte are remarkably slug-resistant.  And in the absence of anywhere suitable to store them, the ground is better than the compost bin.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

The haulms went ages ago, Rog, and you're not wrong, expecting the slugs to get stuck in!
