moving courgettes?
« on: September 04, 2013, 21:29 »
I've got some courgette plants romping away in the garden that I'd like to move to the plot, is it a good idea to do this? I was thinking of giving them a good water, very carefully moving out into large pots and moving them to a raised bed on the plot within 24hrs. Any thoughts, or will  I just be wasting my time? The plants were late to develope, but I think they'll go for another month.

I think they'll just die on you  :(
Mine have slowed right up, so I wouldn't think it's worth trying to move them this late in the year.

Are they not annuals so will die soon any way ? My plants are huge at moment but once the fruits stop I was going to yank them out. This is my first year so no idea really

Even when you move this plant family early on in their development, they take quite a long time to re-acclimatise nd get going again.  So you could have done it weeks ago, but not now I reckon.

Thanks for everyone's comments, I think your right and I should just leave them as they are and get what I can from them before its too late.

Hubby and i were just chatting about courgettes and saying we maybe all full of them now but give it a few weeks and i'll be moaning about having to buy them.

Would a plant over winter in the tunnel.
