Festival ? The only appointment I have in my almanac is the Winter Solstice celebration... no mention of any festival. A rather large bonfire and much merriment on high ground sort of counts I guess, but I try not to think about it while the sun is still doing it's thing.  :)

Thats my one - Yule  TUT TUTI don't normally mention it before November though.

But since sparky brought the subject of Yule/ festival/winterval - I'd also like to grow potatoes for it as well.
But I thought it was a date in September you had to get them in by

Yes, I think you'll get away with that one  :D

Obviously we can't list the ones we won't allow

For anyone that doesn't already know - It's a forum rule (joke) that the words commonly used for the Midwinter festival  ::) are not allowed until much nearer the time, and will be edited out of posts.

I don't usually have to start this early though! YOU'RE ALL VERY NORTY  :nowink:

At our local garden centre they have a sign outside advertising 'winter planting potatoes'. Haven't found time though to go in and find out what they are.  (The Co-op at the end of our road have a whole shelf full of chocolates and biscuits for 'that time of the year')! :D
