Leeks

I am a novice at growing vegetables. I have had some leeks in a corner of my garden and I have not touched them for over 18 months. They were woody and gone to seed but when I pulled them they had healthy looking bulbs attached to the base of the stem. What can I do with them?

Yes, do plant them up, they will be good to use from next spring onwards. That's how champion growers grow some of their best leeks, I'm told.
