well the girls have finally arrived took 2 days for them to settle in and now they are part of the family.my little daughter skye loves them its hard to keep her away.we got a large 3ftx4ftx3ft   high hen house with a chicken guard auto opener/closer as im not an early bird myself.we have 3 golden silkie bantams and 3 exchequer leg horns bantams.the run is 12ft x 9ft x 6ft high just plain grass at the moment but im intending to put some perches in it for them at the moment they seem to like the old tree stump thats in there.well heres a couple of pics my journey begins.

Yes! Nice setup . But it will soon turn into a mud patch if you don't let them free range when ever possible  :)

I've mine on concrete slabs as I have an absolute hatred of rats & now mine is completely rat proof :D
I put easibed & wood chips in the run, use stalosan f, then compost & wash slabs down when needed. They are let out as well though.

Our 5 Hybrid Hens soon scratched up all the grass and left it a bit unsightly, so we now have several inches of leaf litter collected from our garden.

We are surrounded by trees and they are dropping because of a drought here in Lincolnshire. The hens love it, scratching away in it and as a bonus it looks great and should mask any smells. Look at the video...
