Worms in poop
« on: August 30, 2013, 09:21 »
There were tiny things swimming in one of my chicken's poop, they were about 2mm long at the most.  Are these worms, does anybody know?

I can't see them this morning, but yesterday's was watery poop, which I suppose is easier for them to move about in.

The vets said they can check out the poop if I take it in.

Sounds like a worming is needed !
Always pays to keep an eye on the poop as a health indicator ! :D

That sounds tiny for worms, could whatever they are have been in the ground and come up into the watery poo?

There are pictures of worms on the Poo thread HERE   ;)

It is always best to worm your birds regularly with flubenvet as a preventative as they can have a heavy worm burden without you knowing.

No, not from the ground, she poop in the kitchen!  I was wondering if they were small for worms; they look similar to mosquito larvae.

If there was something in pond water the chicken had drunk, might they survive a chickens digestive process and come out the other end?

I think I'll get it analysed at the vets as I'm curious and then worm them.

Many thanks.

It will be interesting to find out what it is.  I hope it is nothing that can harm your hens.
