what shall i sow next?
« on: August 20, 2013, 13:13 »
So I've pulled out the peas and a few spuds from a school garden bed, and I've covered the soil.  I can sow some green manure, but any other suggestions please? Brassicas haven't been successful in the past.
Thank you
Fisher :)

How good is the soil in the beds? Maybe more worthwhile putting on manure, compost, etc, ready for next spring.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

If it was manured before the spuds, how about strawbs? Or late lettuce seedlings from a cut and come again pot  from Lidl (see previous posts) for some colour/interest until frosts.

Pak choi
Round carrots
Turnips
Summer radishes
Lettuce (if it is not too hot)
Mixed salad leaves

Winter White Lisbon onions, rocket, spinach Polarbear and Bordeaux, there are lots of winter salad leaves available and now is the time for oriental leaves of course. I sowed some overwintering onions today as well - Paris Early White.  I've sowed some coriander leaf too and sneaked in a row of purple spring onions
