Bought one of these yesterday - It's brilliant !  8) Julienne Peeler

I was a bit sceptical at first but it does exactly what it says it does, anyone for coleslaw ?  :tongue2:

Looks interesting. What made you buy it?

Did you buy it online - if so was it from the site you posted the link for?

I've got one if those! An Oxo julienne peeler, but actually bought from Robert Dyas. I've had an oxo peeler for years now and it's excellent even now, the best quality peeler I've had yet. Only used the juilenner (if that's a word) once i think then like most gadgets it got forgotten about, will dig it out for a stir fry tonight!

I've been doing a lot of courgette cake and coleslaw lately and I've been using the box grater and grating my fingers. I can't get things thin enough with a knife.

Mine was ordered from Am*zon was £4 and change with next day delivery (prime subscription - so worth it ! )  :D

Now you've gone and got me all interested...  I wonder if I'd actually use it if I bought one?

Would it work on tougher things like parsnips? I love crispy parsnip deep fried crispy bits but they can take ages to slice up and fiddle with.

(Another slight problem these days - we've not had a deep-fat fryer for around 20 years and even then it was a big pan on the gas stove)  ::)

Oh well... it does look fun.  ;)

I've used mine on a potato and it worked, and the peeler has peeled many a parsnip over the years do I'm sure it'd be fine! They're pretty tough little tools.

I love the Oxo hand tools but didn't know they made this julienne peeler. I'll watch for it and pick one up.

I have one of these but don't use it much as I slip and end up with julienne of me!

Used to have a mandolin too but after the third accicdent taking of the tip of my fore finger I use the disc on my magimix.

I think this one has small blades along the main blade at right-angles, Mums.

The one in our drawer is so dangerous, I shudder at the thought of peeling anything smaller than a seven pound carrot...

Great for courgettes though, and hopefully, celeriac!
