Do beetroot like it firm or well turned over?

I have planted them in both with good results.,  getting a little late now but give it a try.  Don't forget to earth up which stops the tops going unsightly green/white.

Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

They do like a bit of nourishment though so an addition of blood, fish & bone will help them on their way  :D

and mine force them selves up out of the ground as they grow and do not seem to change colour like carrots do, Tony. Maybe I'm just lucky  ;)

I've put some growmore in a couple of weeks ago. Don't like the idea of FB&B at the mo as I'm getting some night time furry purries digging stuff  up, so don't want to encourage them if I can help it.

Add or water on some seaweed fertiliser - they love it!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Rich but not recently manured, well tilled soil usually gives me really good results, as mentioned earth them up as soon as they start pushing up and the tops won't go corky and tough.
