i use it for the chook house and its magic.

a little goes along way. i paid £30 for a 25kg bag, i put it under the sawdust and it prevents diseases, keeps the house drier and stops that horrid amonia thingie.

id say its well worth every penny. you can use it for any animal.

it may sound expensive, but you only use 50grams per square metre and it kills so many germs. a bag really does seem to last forever.

Sounds quite economical when you put it that way Babe, how often do you apply ? and what kind of shelf life does it have ?

i bought a bag in the summer, and transfered it into a sealed bin, cant say i noticed a use by date. i still have half left.

i use wood shavings, i do a mini clean every few days and every 3 weeks, (only have a few chooks in a big coop). i clean it all out. and i never ever get a smell in the coop. it works a bit like cat litter by soaking up.

when the ducks first got attacked and they were indoors for a couple of days, i used it and it was a godsend.

i came accross stalosan a few months ago, having never heard of it before.
i was chatting to a fellow goat keeper, about having hoof problems in the winter when the goats are confined to the sheds.
Stalosan can be sprinkled on top of the bedding aswell, and it miraculously dries up surplus liquid.
yes it is expensive, but if it saves me and the goats the problem of footrot, and having to dip each hoof individually in zink sulphate, then having to spray with terramycin every other day, it is well worth it. ( the zink is £14 sack and can be used up very quickly, and the terramycin is £10 spray tin lasting poss a week )
i also use it in the stable with the young ponies......i have 4 young colts in there at the minute, and it can get pretty messy...lol...stalosan helps out a little.

This sounds good stuff if it can reduce bugs and amonia smells, I am going to give it a try :D
