Small, golf ball sized beets are the best size  :tongue2:
You could feed them with manure pellets

Read somewhere that they are very partial to a seaweed feed.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Yup, I feed mine with a seaweed feed about once a fortnight and they seem to love it.  This is the 1st year I have used it on them and I don't know if it's just that it's been a great year for beetroot but I'm getting the best crop I've ever had and they seem to be growing a lot faster than normal too.

Same here. Great year for beetroot. They sat around for ages until I got round to thinning them then they really started going. Have given them two feeds of comfrey tea in total since then and have been harvesting for about a month.

I have never fed mine, and I am on heavy clay.  I have always had great crops of beetroot.  I am sure I recall reading somewhere they prefer poor soil anyway.
This is my Allotment, There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without my Allotment I am nothing, without me, my Allotment is nothing

It's a good year for beetroot, mine have never been so good and that's the Chiogga as well as the Boltardy

Maybe you sowed them too thickly?

I have two lots of beetroot, some I sowed 4 inches apart and some I just sowed in a line. The ones 4 inches apart are much larger than the ones in a line which I forgot to thin out.

Agree that beetroot is great this year, growing Boltardy and Sanguina. Neither have been fed, just a little watering when the heatwave hit. Big crop and fast growing.
Occasionally I have used seaweed feed in the past - seems to work..
