Ooh the black mark could be blossom end rot if near the bottom.
They do sometimes have the odd mark running through them - at least my green ones have but they were still fine.

They go the way of toms when you get blossom end rot.
I don't eat them. It's up to you to try cutting off the bottoms and seeing if the rest is ok - I have no idea whether this is a good idea.

But if you pick them off they should produce more fruits. Mine tend to keep going for a while.
I make sure I feed and water mine regularly like toms.
