Hi All,
I recently bought a VSB automatic door opener used off eblag which works fine and has done for months i then decided to fit a remote light sensor so it will open according to the light levels outside my coop bought from a supplier . This worked fine for a few weeks then failed i sent it back to the supplier who replaced it then the replacement one work only a couple of times then also failed ie the door does not shut after dark. I told the supplier about this but they insist its my VSB opener which is at fault as the sensor i returned works perfectly is there anyway i can test this remote light sensor and has anyone else had this problem as the supplier says i'm the only one  any help or advice much appreciated

You'll need a multimeter to check. Wire up the cell as before and then look for a voltage change between the output and the negative battery tab when the lens is covered and uncovered. I haven't a VSB unit (made my own), so not sure, but I'd expect a chip, transistor or relay to turn that minute change into a voltage and current sufficient to drive the motor. If the cell appears to be working properly, then this would be the next link to check.
