I've been reading this thread getting very restless and hot under the collar.  The 2 by 4 would be itching in my hands if it were me Cudders.  I'm now planning all sorts of nasty surprises to meet the f*****s should any be tempted by my shed.  Painting tool handles is a great idea - just the job for a damp winters evening - bright pink with swirly flowers and hearts should do it!

That's lovely, I'm so glad they haven't been too traumatised by the experience

When the police were asked why there was never a police presence around the villages, we were told that as there are only a few calls they can not take men away from the hotspots.

You've got to make sure that every single theft, no matter how small, is properly reported and recorded as a crime, and that when more than one shed is targetted, every single person reports individually - get those crime stats. up!  - and when reporting value of the theft/damage, don't give the cost of you fixing a new padlock/staple & hasp to a split door, give the cost of a carpenter coming out and replacing the ironmongery and making/hanging a new door

Thats absolutely right David. there was a rave at the back of us last year in the summer everyone in the village rang the Parish Clerk to complain, she in turn rang the police so one call was reported, if everyone in the village had rung the police that would have been 50 calls and they would have come out. The rave lasted three days before any police arrived, and then it was because they were passing.
The more calls the police receive about an incident the higher priority it gets

It would be nice to catch the little sc***es, but they probably get you prosecuted for not being "nice" to them

I'm double shocked!
First that anyone could be so mindless. (Did they think the chooks were guarding your spades?)
Second that Aunty knows such language

why do people do such mindless things?

our field is ajoining the house, but there is a thicket between us and the stables, so we dont hae a clear view of them ( at the moment )

a few weeks ago, we bought some young stock and put them in the stables, because it was quite late, we decided to leave the horse lorry in the field next to the stables.
next day when we went to move it, someone had tried breaking in to it, they had broken one of the clasps, and tried to break off the padlock, they has also put a palet up against the side to look into the window, causing a dent and scratches on it.
what on earth were they looking for....it is a 7.5 ton lorry, if they had stolen it, how far would they have got? did they expect animals to be in it?
what was the point?

needless to say, the lorry is back where it has always been in full view of the house now
