We have a very large tree on the green area opposite which creaks day in and day out. It worries me slightly as if it came down it would take out our whole house plus the back garden. Its a council area but is the creaking a bad sign or good.

Sometimes two large branches rub together in the wind.
Has it just started.
You could phone the council, nothing lost.

Ask the council to look at if if you're worried

Wander over to it and look at it.  See if you can see why its creaking.  If you can't and its the trunk creaking and if its very big I would definately phone the council and express my concerns.

Its been doing it for as long as i can remember although it seems so loud lately. Maybe its just because i am more aware of it being jobless and at home  i used to have other things to worry about now its just creaky trees.

Wont ask the council till it starts to look dead as they are going through a chop down everything phrase
