What to plant where my onions were??

Now ive lifted my onions is there anything i can plant where they were?? I had them in a raised bed on their own?

winter cauli sounds good....can this go in as seed or does i need starting off inside and transplanting out??

I find it's always better to start off brassicas in modules, transplant to 3" pots and then plant out when they've got a good root ball.

It's far more economical as regards the seed and more certain of good germination. I also have to do it that way because of a club root problem.

Do not start them off inside though. Brassicas hate heat and it's warm enough outside!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I have put some quick growing stuff in where my garlic was until the spring cabbage is ready to go out.  So I have got lettuce, radish, a few turnips and some pak choi in now.    My onions are still in the ground.

I just need to watch the soil fertility and bung some chicken pellets in or similar as that bed won't get the manure this autumn.

The kind that you can sow now, won't be ready until about May, though.

If you want cauli to eat in winter then you could buy plug plants  ;)
