Blueberry watering advice pleae
« on: July 21, 2013, 15:31 »
I'm just about to run out of rainwater and would like to know what I can do as our tap water is hard
and therefore probably alkaline. I beleive that blueberries should be watered with rainwater.
Can I just acidify the water slightly with say vinegar or something mildly acidic.

It won't harm them to use tap water for a while. If yours has chlorine and other treatments, then let the water rest outside for 24 hrs before using so the chemicals can evaporate, etc.

I have very hard well water and often have to use it as we get little rain here. But I do make sure my plants get yearly feeds with old chicken manure and lots of sulphur powder (which is legal here) to compensate.
