Taylor was not able to return to her eggs for a whole day. It has been a pretty hot day and the eggs are inside a wooden a-frame. She went and sat on them right away once I opened the door...I feel terrible!!! do you think the babies made it? how long can a chicken stay off the eggs before her babies die?? Today is day 14 in the incubation...

I am new to this site and just need to talk to someone who understand me... my hubby is rolling his eyes. :(

I have a small flock of 4th generation "mutts" in my front yard. And love them dearly... they all have names and different personalities: 2 grannies 11 layers, 9  teenagers ( born in may ) 3 babies ( born last month ) and 12 on the way. well, hopefully! :(

I had one off her eggs for about 8 hours (her door closed accidentally) and she had 8 out of 10 hatch. As the weather is so warm the eggs should hopefully be ok.
Once she was allowed back in did she settle down ok?
Staffies are softer than you think.

And if the eggs had died, she wouldn't sit on them for long, she'd kick them out, so fingers crossed for you and the chicks!  But like Joyfull said, it has been lovely and warm recently......

Hopefully with the warm weather they will be alright, it will just be a case of wait and see or you could candle them in a few days to see if they are at the right stage of development.
