At last! Something I've grown to eat
« on: July 12, 2013, 18:54 »
What with the bad weather and work etc. I've finally managed to harvest enough food for a meal or two.  :)

Lady C potatoes, peas and courgettes with our own garlic.  Yum.  V. nice with cold chicken and a  glass of Riesling.  :D

Just got up most of the early spuds - Lady C and Belana, as they're now suffering from blackleg (thanks to all who told me about this on other posts  ;)).

Been harvesting cucumbers and strawberries a bit at a time, but today is the first "proper" meal of the year with our own stuff. Silly to be so pleased, but I am well -chuffed. Thought this year was going to be a total disaster.

Needed to share with other loons...! ;) :tongue2:

Your next project should be to grow all the veg required for a full Christmas dinner, (freezing is allowed).

Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

My courgettes are the globe sort - wouldn't let them near the wine rack   They wouldn't fit!

Things are finally looking up on the growing front!  Beans flowering, toms coming along, even the Autumn rasps are producing fruit now!, so patience is the name of the game here..... all at least a month behind.

Need to replant the potato boxes - any ideas?  Thinking salad leaves, radish etc.. would they be affected by blackleg?  It was only mild and not everywhere.... Here's hoping.

Never seen the point (no pun intended) of round courgettes.  Please instruct me.

Cheers,   Tony.

Not sure I can, Tony! Just wanted a change this year.  Might be easier to stuff with yummy sauce? :)

Also, can  be used as football by the hens when/if we get too many.
