« on: July 11, 2013, 22:36 »
Sorry please excuse my complete ignorance but my first time growing spuds, I'm growing maincrop Desiree and planted them in march they have been flowering for a few weeks now anyway I was watering them this evening when I got the shock of my life I thought there was a tomato plant growing between the spuds but no the flowers have finished and have tomato looking things growing from them  is this normal?? I had a walk around the site checking other people's spuds but no one else's have them

Can sometimes be known as potato apples. Don't eat them they are poisonous. Some people remove them as it is rumoured to reduce your crop if you leave them. Personally I think life is too short to spend time looking for them and removing them. Potatoes and tomatoes are related hence the similarity.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.

Thanks I honestly nearly fell over when I saw them  couldn't believe my eyes, I think I'll snip them off I only have two rows so it won't be a big job, I suppose its not a good idea to put them in the compost?

They'll be fine in the compost  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
