as with blackleg,,,are the potatoes ok to eat   or should they be dumped

If the potatoes look good then eat them up quickly, I am.

If you leave the tops to rot it can infect the tubers - so remove the tops and any crop asap. That way you may get a small usable harvest and stop the disease spreading through the rows.
