Savoury jellies
« on: July 10, 2013, 19:24 »
So i made a beautiful blackcurrant jelly from the recipe section early this morning.

But it got me wondering what else can be put into a savoury jelly.

I do, do sloe and brambley apple and blackcurrant but thats it i think. I did once try a strawberry jelly but it was horrid so wont be doing that again. i will be doing apple jellies depending on the harvest, i have done a lovely crab apple before too.

Can rhubarb be put into a savoury jelly.
what else can.
Also my jelly this morning reached heat on the thermometer but refused to set on a plate but set really well once potted. Any ideas and help.

We are tea total really, i tend to have one small sherry Christmas day as a tradition and to be honest that has me under the table giggling, i just cant handle it.

I am more of a savoury jelly, jam or chutney girl.  ;)

What do you mean by savoury jelly? - mine would be fish in aspic, or brawn.

The ones you've listed are sweet not savoury, so I'm  confused ???

Sorry we use the jellies listed like you would cranberry sauce so with roast etc does that make sense, not as in, used on toast

Gooseberry jelly goes well with duck or goose ,the tartness removes the fattiness from both birds  :)
