I remember a couple of years ago I was looking at the seed potatoes in the local GC.  Their prices really aren't that much more expensive than most places, but a couple walked passed and the man said to the lady.  How much?  I certainly wouldn't pay that for potatoes!

I wasn't sure if he meant for seed potatoes, or perhaps he just thought they were eating potatoes! lol

Trouble is a lot of "certified" seed aint a lot better than supermarket. i have seen a lot of rubbish sold these last few years. A lot of it is what my uncle would have called second class seed and he was a farmer growing a high tonnage every year.

Pick a decnt company to get your seed spuds from. Personally i use JBA and haven't had any problems. A lad on another site asked me to get him some from jba, decided it wasnt enough so got the same variety locally, guess which ones have the no shows and leaf probs.
