« on: July 07, 2013, 09:20 »
After having a laugh last night about my ridiculous obsession with making chutney i decided it would be good to see everyone elses. So please show us your chutney stores, i need t know i am nt the only fruit loop about.

Basically the chutney store with a few jams that now need moving over to hubbys EX man cupboard.

The new jam store.
Also under our bed for when things get ot of hand and hubby starts moaning

Wow! I'd like to see that beaten. I don't have anywhere to store stuff till the cellar is sorted, and we eat little jam and chutney, but I am making a variety which is in the dark in the coolest bedroom, under the bed.

Six courgette chutney

Four courgette and ginger jam

Four red plum jam

Two pickled cucumber (and a huge jar of revolting cucumber pickle!)

Four plum, pear and apple chutney

and one purple plum jam

One of Mum's hot tomato chutney with two and a bit sauce from same batch.

Three tomato sauce

Four spiced apricot chutney

Two bottles of giant apricots. The syrup with brandy stopped them rising.

Five apricot jam

I am not planning on making any more jam and chutney, but will continue with bottled stuff as lovely neighbour sedns goodies across the fence.

Certainly have a varied array of bottle shapes and sizes. I did forget earlier that I will hopefully be making beetroot chutney if mine come to anything. It's hard being reserved in what I make. I have been left with unused bottles of stuff in the past and hate throwing stuff away. If I have too much I give some to the neighbours who are supplying the ingredients. It's lovely having time for lots of cooking. :)

a lot of ours are boxed up in the boxes the jars came in from lakeland, others are in cupboards (SWMBO bought a whole selection of bonne maman jams when we went to france last week).

WHat a lot of chutney.

I believe that having that many jars contravenes some law or other on the control of explosives and other dangerous materials.

cautionary example
The Dales - probably fingerprint marks where God's hand touched the world

O M G - just shows what can go wrong with preserving food. Perhaps chutney/jam stores should be in a Nissen hut  at the end of the garden

Thank heavens  the lady didn't eat any of it, it sounds lethal.

My mum tried making cider once and all the bottles exploded all over her bedroom where they were stored.  They went off with a right ol' bang.

Never been any good in a kitchen my ma. :D

And you have all seen my preserve cupboard on my five star post. Fitted floor to ceiling cupboard and all preserves in labeled boxes.

I now have a shelf unit in the cellar. One for jam and bottled fruit, one for pickles and chutney and two for tomato sauce, ketchup, solid pack, pepper and tomato sauce and lutinitza (tom and med veg thick sauce) I am freezing the rest of the peppers and the okra is in the freezer ready to make chutney. Also waiting for the apples.
