caterpillars in cabbage.

I went mad this year with my walk in brassica cage.  So far it has stood up to the Lincolnshire winds, but what it will be like in autumn, goodness knows!    I pushed my 6ft canes into the ground by 16 inches, then cable tied some 6ft canes to them, and tied some across the top to hold the 'roof' on.  The wind did make it bend a bit, but OH gave me some thicker stakes to hammer in around the edges which helps keep the canes upright.

It's a bit Heath Robinson, but is holding at the moment.

30m of 3m wide debris netting was about £30, but you can get net curtains quite cheap from charity shops and boot fairs as a cheaper alternative.

Mine keeps the butterflies and pigeons out, but I still have some slugs, even though I put some slug pellets in there!
