Broadcast sowed some rocket
« on: June 26, 2013, 19:07 »
and it's all come up causing quite  a bit of overcrowding. Will I be alright to leave it like that or do I thin out as you would do with say carrots,  even if it means sacrificing healthy seedlings? If the former then what luck will I have pricking the chosen evictees out and planting them on else where?

I'd thin them out, fully grown plants are quite big. You may be able to transplant them, but how much rocket do you actually need

i love my rocket - i would eat it for every meal (perhaps not breakfast, lol)

i direct sowed a couple of rows between my overwintering onions a couple of months ago, along with coriander, this has come up well, it makes a tall thin plant and is now in flower.  in the garden i sowed a few seeds in modules, about 10 modules with about 20 seeds in each, this is now growing well in the garden having been planted out about 3 weeks ago.  this just about provides me with enough leaves for me and hubby.  the garden rocket i just planted a a group of seedling together.  it seems easy to grow and happy in most situations. so dont sacrifice healthy seedlings just plant them somewhere else.

it even self seeds as some has come up in the spuds this year.
