French beans possible problem
« on: June 25, 2013, 19:27 »
My french beans were doing great in there florist buckets but today i noticed the new leaves are all shrivelled and the older normal sized leaves are all motled. I did water them with comfrey tea as i had some in the can left over.

I know a picture would be good, but i cant do pics. Any ideas without a pic.

Has it been windy down your way, the wind might have shrivelled them up.

A little bit, the ones on the plt do get blown to death but they are fine, its the ones at home that look dreadful. Our garden is really sheltered though. I was so pleased with them they looked fab, i did check for bugs etc after our aphid trouble but nothing

My french beans have barely germinated and those that have are very slow where as the runners are nearly at the top of their pole even the kenya beans have finally leaped into action, sorry I cant help much
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

I've had poor germination with my frenchies also. The only beans that have germinated well are my borlotti beans which are in the same bed as the others.

I've had real problems with my frenchies this year.  Runners are (finally) half way up the pole but have had to make several sowings of the cosse violette and plonk them in the gaps...
