has anybody got 'new potato hands' ...?

or is just me.  when dealing with new spuds either washing scraping, etc my fingers always get stained brownish round the nails and fingers - it happens every  year.  i suppose i could wear gloves but i dont like them.
one time it was so bad i used a kitchen spray with bleach on my hands, lol

sorry to change the subject slightly but last year i was generously given 3 bags of parsnips which stained my hands and nails yellow (it was very hard to get off) and slightly worrying to the unexperienced gardener.

is this sort of thing kinda normal for some veg? or is it something they have been fed?
