Oh you!  Wicked Auntie M!  Is it too late to get something as gorgeous looking as that?  Will it stand/grow over winter?  It looks so lovely that it would be nice as a garden border plant  Next to giant red mustard

Moi?  ::)  It is a beautiful plant, although I confess mine is under veggie mesh at the moment.  Not sure about sowing times tbh, would have to look at the destructions...  Have to say though, at least it looks as good as it's picture, the giant red mustard however, looks neither giant nor red.  Still, I guess there's time.  :D

I put my seeds in last July and am still having a plentiful crop!!! In fact it has put my plans out as I had expected it to go to seed way before now.

Mention has been made of how tasty the flower heads are (when they eventually appear). How do I cook them?

Ghost61 are you freezing it fresh or cooked?

Freeze it fresh. I chop up the leaves rather than leave them whole

the flower heads can be cooked a little like brocoli but need less time and to my taste are milder and sweeter...

Didnt get my compost to do mine still. I seem to be slowing down, cant be doing with it. Old age, pregnancy who knows, i'll go with pregnancy as that ends. Mind you so does old age

Just saying.... if, IF I decide to purchase some seeds (we all know I will  ;))  Would it be best to module sow and pot on plants before putting them out when they are a decent size?  I'm thinking of slug damage.  I've bought some Broccoli rabe '60 days' and was wondering about whether to sow these direct or in pots for the same reason?

Totally agree with BQ.  I usually start mine in small (20's) modules and pot them up when they've germinated but they seem to do very well germination wise, so I'll be starting mine in larger modules so I can just plant them out next time.  :)

My absolute favourite Kale of all time! :D
I do a spring sowing (should be ready to go in the ground when I get back from France at the weekend) and a sowing about mid july.
Love it - sauteed with garlic, steamed, in soups and stews - it's very versatile.
