hi all
Ive had leeks patiently waiting in mushroom trays, they are starting to look a bit fed up as I cant eat my new spuds quick enough, they're going in the same bed
Will they be ok waiting a week or 2 ?

I use to give mine a weak feed,if i had to keep them waiting.

I'm only getting in to making my own feeds,(I get bad reactions to insect bits so don't store water on plot as the midges love it,but i'm getting a sealed container and trying this way)up to this i used bought liquids feeds,i'm sure someone will be on soon to help you out.'

If you have a spare bit of the plot you could empty them out of the tray and give their roots some growing room in the soil, would be easier to water / keep them moist and stop them getting 'stopped'

Nettle stew is nitrogen rich, therefore perfect for giving your leeks a boost.

Also tomato feed is good.. Mine are thriving on it and will have to wait a week cos im on me hols.

Do you mean as a kind of half way house before they go where my spuds are?
Will the be ok getting moved around?

My Leeks went into the ground at the weekend but prior to that they had been in the compost tray for about 8 weeks so I gave them a feed at the 4 week stage and it did them the power of good. Anything with a lot of Nitrogen which makes for green leaf is good.

I gave mine comfrey tea but not sure if thats any good or not. They do seem perkier but they still have a long way to go before they are worth talking about
