Swedes - too much foliage?

I have grown swedes this year for the first time.
I've had them under an environmesh cover (protecting carrots next to them) and found that the foilage is huge.
Is this what you expect - it seems to be too big ...I'm worried I'll leave them in the ground all through to winter and not get an end product....
If it is too much , any idea what could have caused this?
The soil is new so don't know of its history

I was worried since the tops are bigger than rhubarb, I expected them to be cabbage sized....
As you say, I'll maybe leave them- thanks

Look good to me, my turnips are also very green but we have picked some amazing ones so far already. Shame i didnt order two lots of seeds.
