Thanks. Still glowing (either pride or windburn).  But suspect they won't be quite so impressive shelled!  That's my next job. I want to freeze some, do I blanch them first?

Some people say to blanch, but I never do.  That is if there's any left to freeze as OH loves his broad beans!!!

Thanks Annie, I'll just leave them then. Don't suppose they will be in there long.  I've prodded them now, makes should wish we ate the pods and threw away the beans!

You can eat the pods whole if you want, but best reserved for the tiny ones only. You can also steam the tops if you pinch them out, delish

I blanch mine when freezing. Memory is a funny thing when taking food out of a freezer months later. Many differing beans have health issues if not boiled for the requisite time I find blanching the safest thing to do.

Mine is very old, was my mums 40/50 years ago.  It had a hole in where one of the thin slats had broken,  it is currently mended with a bit of plastic cut from a milk bottle!!!!

Good grief!  It looks even better then and I am even more envious!  Now, you see, you've got me thinking that I've seen some trugs just like that somewhere, not too pricey, and do you think I can remember where?  Not I, no way

They look fab.
I just pod them, then take the outer skin of each and blanch rapidly before freezing the bright green and oh so tasty bean inside (cannot bear the skin)
