Mould on Honeysuckle lower leaves
« on: June 19, 2013, 13:06 »
Mine honeysuckle is doing really well, and climbing the trellis on the fench, but it has this grey sort of speckled mould on the lower leaves?

Any ideas, what this is, and what I can do about it?

I was wondering if it was a ventilation problem?
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

I get it on my honeysuckle every year - black fly (or any other aphid) secreting honeydew then going mouldy.

No sign of aphids anywhere and it seems to be getting worse, lower leaves are going crispy and dieing.

That looks more like mildew to me?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

What causes that York? And is it treatable?

It's a fungal disease which is aggravated in warm humid conditions.
