I've been eating mine since Friday. I look forward all year to eating my own, real, organic strawberries. Yummmm. The local berries aren't even in the shops yet.

As yet they are not as large as last year's!

They are lovely though, aren't they? :) :) :)

My strawberries have been slow to develop. I've had a single sweet strawberry which was lovely, but the second one was picked too early (despite being a rich red) and was terrible bitter

But only the one Grannie!   I'll be following your example this year and overwintering in the greenhouse.  ;)

So all you lucky folk who have already eaten some strawberries, did you grow them in a greenhouse?

Mine are a bit slow this year. Lots of fruit, but probably a week or so away from ripening off yet.

We had our first bowl last night - they tasted absolutely wonderful and much better than the shop bought ones.  We planted them last year and the first harvest was pretty bad, but last week we put straw under them and wire cloches over the top so there is no bird and hardly any slug damage.

My inherited strawbs have had a hard year - I ripped them out of the ground, put them in pots and watered irregularly. As a result I have a bumper crop coming....how did that happen!

I've had 2 off the honeyoye runners so far - yum!

Two large bowls over the last two days - and if we get any sun today, a larger bowl tonight!

Lovely and sweet, far more flavour than the stuff in Morrisons!

Yes, we put ours in a tower made up from the Poundland multi pots.  Last year I bought 30 bare root strawb plants from Marshall's, we only received 29, but hey ho, and we picked just over 10lbs of strawbs from them, then this year I bought another 30 as they are on special offer, which we put into another tower.

My OH fixes the pots together with a threaded rod and they stay in the greenhouse.  I'm really pleased with them.  Last year we ate the first strawbs on 25th June, this, their 2nd year, it was 3rd June!
This was them in May, but I've moved them onto my path now as its easier to turn them around so they all get a bit of sunshine!

Why do my pics keep laying down, even though I've rotated them to stand upright?
