Just pulled first broad beans.

Sown last November. About 8" long. Going to get munched with a nice roster and some finny haddock tomorrow.

Mine are coming a week or so 1st time I've grown them very impressed wizzard variety sowed direct in october no protection in the winter I hope I like them.

My pods are big but I opened one last week and the beans inside were tiny

Yesterday I pulled the last of my Autumn sown Aquadulce for freezing. A very good crop indeed, very happy, and totally free of black fly.
I can't say the same for the early April planted Bunyard dwarf beans which have been covered with the fly and it looks as if a third of the crop is ruined :(. Have yet to pick any. probably at the end of this week, as with my Sutton dwarf beans  planted 3 weeks later in a more sheltered spot , and yet they are showing virtually no sign of blackfly. It just goes to show what effect little micro climates / conditions / varieties etc. can have on allotments.
