Cats & Hens - not a good start
« on: June 18, 2013, 19:53 »
Hi

I have just had my girls arrive about 2 hours ago. I have cats and 2 yorkies. One of my cats has gone absolutely mad for the hens. I didn't think he would be he is quite intent. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?

I allowed them to meet (the hens have been with cats previously) and my cat just went mad and tried to grab one (I was onhand and close to make sure no contact was made)

:(

My cat soon got put in her place and now runs a mile when the chooks come near, only time she is really interested is when the chooks are locked in the pen, then she gets stalk happy.

Mine just sit outside the run rolling around on the path taking no tice of the chooks. In fact the local fox hasn't even taken any notice. He just walks thorough to the other end of town!

Thats a relief! He was all claws blazing and did jump at one and the flapping only added to the excitement. Im really shocked by him as he is a disabled cat who is deaf, cant jump and is very slow! Just tried the water pistol trick :( dont like doing it but its helped a little

I would keep the chooks in an all over secure area until the cat gets used to them. He is protecting his area.
