Arrr right, thats interesting about the kitchen bits and bobs! I did read somethingvery similar but it was on an american site so didnt think it would apply here - appreciate you letting me know :)

I will try home bargains also, never thought of that! I just ordered some and the delivery was more than the bag!

The girls are doing great. Can anyone tell me what it means whe they make a 'purring' sound?

And, one has eaten out of my hand :) - I'm 35 going on 6 hahah

I think they are around £1  for a bag in HB.

Purring means they are happy.   :D

Arrr right! Thank you for letting me know about the scraps. I read online something about this but thought it was an american law. Is this in case they end up in the food chain?

The girls are settling great. I think I have figured how to upload some pics :)

They have been having a dust bath yesterday but I am a bit worried that they might have mites as they scratch a lot :( going to get some stuff this afternoon. Have ordered some online but I will get some now rather than waiting - cant be pleasant for them

The law is due to things like BSE and is an across the board thing rather than if you don't eat your birds etc.  It is a simple law to follow rather than one with ifs, buts and maybes.

Be careful what you use on your birds as some things will have an egg/meat withdrawal period when using them.

I sprinkle diatomaceous earth in the birds dust bath area so they apply their own.   ;)

Totally identify with he 'going on 6' feeling - same for me now with three chicks.  Hens always dustbathe and groom - I think they just do that whatever.  I found mite powder didn't help my last hen.  Frontline spray from the vet really works and is quick and easy.  I left a note for my vet who was happy to supply it for my 'cat'.

One grandma and 4 baby Pekins.
