Cabbage white decoy
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:54 »
Having only 8 psb plants I don't want to go to the expense of buying more netting so have covered them with netting i have of about 8mm squares. While I don't expect this to keep out the butterflies I do have a few plants left over and was thinking of planting them close by to act as a decoy thus attracting the butterflies to an easier target. Does anyone think this will work?  I have nasturtiums in another area. TIA

Not sure it would help that much.

If you can get down the plot fairly often, 8 plants should not be a huge job to check over regularly for eggs or larvae. ?

The pigeons would have mine, if there were unnetted, before caterpillars had a look in!

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
