Compost Growing
« on: June 15, 2013, 16:42 »
I got a lot of free compost from the council.

When I sow seeds,I only use top quality seed compost. But After small plants have emerged,I have put in many in larger containers containing only council compost. Is this a good or bad idea for success of the plants eventually ?

Thanks

I don't think there is much feed in the local compost - IMO it's more of a soil conditioner than a compost for potting on. All the bought composts have a general fertiliser mixed in.
