planted my asparagus this spring - it had put up thin shoots  - until i hoed one of them off! will this kill the plant or will it send up another shoot?

I planted new this year too.  6 out of 9 has skinny shoots, but now I have just 3 - guess the others have been eaten.  I wondered if that was it, or will they shoot again next year.

The shoots are called Ferns ... just let them grow and die off , it takes 3 to 4 years before you get a good crop .
My Ferns are about 5 foot tall and in year three , next year i will have a good old munch on them

No worries - the plant will survive and grow more ferns... It's like cutting off one of your fingers -  thats all!!
