Don't forget Roma is a cooking tomato, so you'll only get the right taste after they've been cooked  ;)
Aaaaaaah. This I did not know ::)

Well you do now   :D

They are the kind that you find inside a tin of Italian plum tomatoes, along with San Marzano and a few others.

I'm not getting anything ripening except for Tigerella and only very slowly. All the rest have had huge amounts of fruit just sitting there staying stubbornly green. Lots of BER too, which I have never ever had before. I notice that someone in Rotherham, which is not far north from here, has the same problem.   I think they'll all turn green at exactly the same time and we'll be swamped  :tongue2:

:D I have loads of fruit on my Alicante, so much that the canes are breaking and falling over...... but they re refusing to turn red. :( Such a test of patience. Trouble is the Plotfather is in charge next week while I'm in New York

Just pulled my first San Marzano ready for the frying pan with the bacon and sossidge for tomorrows dinner. Also a few G Delight, which have just been necked as I type. First trusses of Moneymaker averaging 6oz per tomato.

The grafted 'Sweet Million' are really starting to ripen now - stunning flavour :D
No sign of grafted 'Shirley' or 'San Marzano'

My 'Roma VF' from seed - woolley - not the best of flavour - will try cooking them ;).

A branch of Tigerellas snapped off today under the weight of the fruits  :(  I've hung it upside down in the greenhouse from the staging in the hope that the toms will ripen.  It was loaded  :)

I always support my trusses with some cut up tights tied to the truss and the main stem/cane to prevent them breaking off under the weight.

I've been trussing em up like chickens but this one got away. It might have been something to do with me falling head first in there the other day  :nowink:

Old tights!  I like that idea  :)

They are just the job, plenty of "give", and can be made wide so as not to cut into the branch. The only problem is when you ask ladies if they have any old tights you can have, you get some right looks.
