Well, out of a greenhouse filled with various toms it's only the Tigerella that is showing any signs of ripening, and still just the two eaten. I have another Tiger in prospect which hopefully will be ready tomorrow. It's like drawing teeth  :nowink:

Knowing my luck every tom will ripen at the same time

Passata anyone  :tongue2:

We have had 4 Gardeners Delight from outside, about 50 from the 100s&1000s and the bambini have 3 turning orange.  Diddley squat from the black russians and marmande, but they were late going in.

Seeds of Italy sells the tomato gizmo. If I get a greenhouse full of tomatoes I might get one. I think it's called a pomodori   It takes the skin off and the pips out all in one graceful movement.  Me and gadgets. Hmmmm

CQ, we just chuck the toms with the skins still on, straight in the blender, and then flat pack them in poly bags for the freezer.

I often just use it all with just pasta for my lunch, and Mrs Growster uses it for casseroles etc.

Mind you, they have to make it of the greenhouse first, which, with 'Sungold', is particularly difficult..;0) The big 'Black Krim' there is making odd growling noises again, so I have to run a little faster on occasions...

I have a greenhouse full of good sized tomatoes of three different varieties and none of them are showing any sign of ripening.   Is there anything I should be doing to encourage them?

You could try hanging some banana skins in among them  ;)

Look out for the skins starting to change from dark to light green - they will be starting to think about ripening and some deploy banana skins as a source of ethylene to speed them up, although I would have thought that you'd need a lot of banana skins to make much of a difference in a greenhouse (and you'd then probably be too full of bananas to be able to eat any tomatoes!)

If you haven't already done so, removing any leaves which are seriously shading the trusses will help.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

After the first few biggins getting blossom end rot, the beefsteak legends are now in production. Not as big as the ones I lost, but they're still large meaty tomatoes that the family and neighbours are loving :)

Hundreds and thousands have gone crazy, picking the tomatoes in bursts because cannot be bothered to do it all at once XD

Picked my first tom today...it was a Latah variety on one of my outdoor plants. Spotted a couple more starting to orange.

Just gotta get that lot in the PT to ripen!

3rd tigerella this morning - this one made it to Piero, but only because I saw that 3 of the 100s&1000s are turning orange.  ;)

This is VERY exciting. By this time last year all my tomatoes had had blight and had been burned.

Sungold still ripening at the rate of 2-3 per day from 3 GH plants.

Sweet Million just showing the first signs of ripening (2 gigantic GH plants!)

Inca Plums look lovely............but very green (GH.)

Red Alert is not a variety that likes to be left behind, and has ripened a few fruit already despite having to put up with living in a cold frame (with the lids off.)
