Very excited to find a few ripe baby plum tomatoes when I checked this morning. They live in the conservatory and take up quite a lot of room. I sort of assumed they were bush tomatoes - there were no clues on the Franchi seed packet - but they have turned out to be cordons, quite thin and dainty plants.

Been picking the odd sweet n'neat tomato for the last week or so now, however last night noticed the first of the tigerella and sungolds starting to colour up!

Testing time for the Brook's special.

Very little in the way of seed, just a little sac. 99% flesh.

Nice sweet taste as well. We'll see how they fare during the season.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Ate the first homegrown tomato of the year-Stupice variety.

Not had a tomato with so much taste for nearly a year!  :D :D :D

Grown outdoors in 15L pots. Has beaten the Galina and Urbikany varieties.

I'm not doing very well, my darling three year old grandson decided to help me when he was over earlier in the year during the period when I was putting them out during the day and putting them back indoors at night!  I have tumblers in the greenhouse and uprights in the hanging baskets.  Goodness knows whether I will get any tomatoes! :D

So we are going to have to fertle a bit for seed to save then  ;)  They look great - just waiting for mine to get going and ripen  :)

I don't think I'll bother with beefsteaks next year. I've had four tomatoes off them and three of them had blossom end rot  :( Only the small one got away without it.

I water them regularly!

Had noticed a couple of ripening alicante's, decent size, until we had a visiting 2 year old who decided the biggest one needed removing from the plant!  ::) I'm glad i've had my own daughter doing the same so at least i was ready for the heartache  ;) Decided i'm never growing these again, caused me no end of worry and trouble
It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how i keep from going under......

My Sungold are starting to ripen well now, although been having a few for about three weeks. The Shirley are nowhere near ripening and they went in at the same time. Just goes to show how important variety is in getting early crops.

Lots of green tomatoes, and the tumblers are a mass of flowers - nothing going red yet.

Do you need to stop tumbling toms from growing more at any point? I have a bajillion flowers and am not sure that there is enough time for them to turn into fruit...(I lost all mine to blight last year, so have no experience at this!)

First tomato starting to ripen on the bush outside, it is sown from seed I saved from a good outdoor cropper last year, unfortunately I had lost the label so I have no idea what variety it is.  I will see if I can remember to take a photo and perhaps someone on here can ID it for me as it is again doing well so I will be saving seeds again for net year.
