Strawberries Ready
« on: June 11, 2013, 13:42 »

I was checking through the strawberries , and some of  the ones in my brick coldframe  are ready.

There are only about a dozen ,but its a start ,the outside strawberries are a good size but not ready yet .

There are approx 500 stawbs plants  in beds ,100 in the brick coldframe and another 150 +in various other
   pots and containers.

WE LOVE STRAWBERRIES IN OUR FAMILY !

 Cheers Carl

I picked our first 4 the other day Carl, they too are growing in the greenhouse.  I don't have any outside, but am jealous of the amount of plants you have.

Strawberries are my favourites too, well apart from raspberries!  :)

I spent ages last year putting the runners in small plant pots, then pinning them down.

When they were bigger,I moved to larger pots, and then eventually into final beds and largest pots I had.

I've no more room for any more strawberries this year

Cheers Carl

We seem to have a lot of strawberry plants and they are doing great but no strawberries just yet.

We currently have four beds and an area at home. Hubby wants to put more in, he has strawberry amnesia, he wont be saying that when hes picking 10lb a night

Think I'm going to have to take a leaf out of Grannie's book this year and overwinter them in the greenhouse!  :)

Mine are no where near ready yet so I'm hoping they'll wait until I get back off holiday.   :tongue2:

As an aside, it is a bit of a job, watering all my pots.  Does anyone know if I would get away with edging my raspberry bed with a few?

I think raspberries would take over not giving the strawberries chance.

Our raspberries are taking over he world not just the beds.
