A TURKEY FOR NEXT YEAR?

The price of turkeys has moved me to consider rearing one for the table for next year. Anyone had any experience with them - other than eating them. Do they live happily with chickens??

I don't know much about turkeys but I understand that they should not be kept with the chickens as they can catch a nasty disease called Blackhead

I agree with FenlandGirl, the people we had our hens from got some turkeys to fatten up for Christmas this year and about half of them died because they were in with the chickens.

And like chickens, they shouldn't be kept on their own, they need a friend!!!

They need toys to keep them amused too a they do fight if theyr'e bored a few cabbages on strings etc maybe

Beware they are very friendly so keep your distance or Christmas Dinner will be a pet for life :?

Ive heard of somone rearing a turkey for Christmas and when it came to it they couldnt go ahead with it as they made friends!
